An Experienced Strategist with a Passion for Technology and Global Affairs
I am a dynamic and accomplished strategist with a passion for advancing technology and innovation with over eight years of professional experience. Currently enrolled in Georgetown University's Master of Science in Foreign Service program with a concentration in Science, Technology, and International Affairs (STIA), I have distinguished myself as a Boren Scholar and Global Ambassador of Sustainability. I hold a B.A. in Arabic Studies and International Development from the University of Maryland, where I graduated with the highest honors.
Previously, as a Fellow at Velocity Government Relations, I performed legislative and policy work in the civil and national security space domains, supporting aerospace companies in providing solutions to warfighter and space exploration problems. My role involved writing analytical reports on space policy and technology, which are distributed to clients and key government leaders. Additionally, I represented the firm at Washington, D.C. think tank events, Hill testimonies and hearings, and federal agency events, which allowed me to gain valuable communication skills, networks, and insights about Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch, government affairs, regulation, and legislation supporting civil and national security space.
I have a wealth of experience in the transportation technology industry, having worked for the past seven years as a Strategic Engagement Manager at Virgin Hyperloop, a cutting-edge company developing the first new mode of mass transport in over 100 years. In this role, I was responsible for communicating the groundbreaking potential of hyperloop technology to governments, partners, and investors across the Arabian Gulf, India, and Southeast Asia. My work was presented to high-level government leaders, and I represented the company at the World Economic Forum in 2017. I excelled as a public affairs leader, culminating in my successful delivery of Virgin Hyperloop's 360-day engagement at the World Expo. At the Dubai World Expo, I was responsible for creating the company’s interactive exhibition from its inception, which took two years of planning. I established the CEO’s thought leadership agenda, secured key meetings with top officials, and wrote the CEO and Chairman’s keynote speeches. Additionally, I served as the spokesperson for the Dubai team and played a crucial role in the company's early startup phase in 2016.
Prior to Virgin Hyperloop, I led external affairs at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Amman, Jordan, during the height of the Syrian refugee crisis. I found meaningful work in applying my strong research and analytical skills to raise awareness and contribute to increased global donor attention to the plight of refugees. During my time at UNHCR, I had the honor of briefing US delegations, including former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. My work culminated in producing the most annual prominent external relations document, The Year in Review.
In 2015, I was awarded the highly competitive National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarship for Arabic language, funded by the US Department of Defense.
